Chetumal, Q.R. — A Chetumal resident believed part of a local criminal organization was gunned down outside a market Wednesday. It was around 2:30 p.m. when police were notified of the Lázaro Cárdenas Market shooting that left one man lifeless on the ground.
Responding officers found a lone male of around 40 laying face down against a sidewalk on Confederación Nacional Campesina Street. He had been shot several times.
Neighbors from the Colonia Adolfo López Mateos neighborhood alerted police after witnessing an attempted abduction that turned into a deadly shooting. Two men from a gray car intercepted the man who was on foot. While resisting the attempted abduction, he was shot.
His shooters, armed with long weapons and covered faces, fled in the same gray car they tried to force him into.
Preliminary reports say the now deceased was a member of Los Tobas criminal group that operates out of several Chetumal neighborhoods.
