Chetumal, Q.R. — Chetumal firemen removed a deceased body from the Bay Monday after city worker reports. A Chetumal city cleaning crew saw what they initially described as a “lump” in the water but soon realized it was a person.
The body of a deceased man was located in shallow waters off Bahía Boulevard Monday morning. Firemen removed the body in response to the 6:00 a.m. discovery and confirmed that it did not have crocodile bites as initially speculated.
The deceased is reported to be a homeless man that was well known to both police and area residents. While his death is speculated to be an accidental drowning, an autopsy will determine the official cause.
