Chetumal chimney fire blamed on poor installation

Chetumal, Q.R. — Chetumal firemen were able to save a city restaurant after its chimney caught fire Saturday. Firefighters were called to Forasteros restaurant in the David Gustavo Gutiérrez neighborhood due to a kitchen fire.

According to preliminary information, the fire was a flash fire that originated in the extraction system. According to early reports, the extractor hood was not installed correctly and caught fire.

Restaurant employees requested city firemen at their location at the intersection of Francisco I. Madero and Bugambilias avenues. The Saturday afternoon fire was extinguished within a few minutes and stopped from spreading.

No injuries were reported, only material damage in the restaurant’s kitchen.
