Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — The Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) is installing new wiring along 115th Avenue in Playa del Carmen. The company says the installation is part of a contingency plan to prevent further power outages.
Edgar Zapata Buenfil, Undersecretary of Infrastructure and Public Works reported work is being done along 115th, 125th, and Colosio Avenues.
He said during meetings with the CFE prior to the start of the work, the municipality requested that the roads be restored to the same condition they were in before excavation started since other projects have left city streets with holes large enough to cause traffic accidents.
The CFE projects to add new wiring are due to public pressure over constant power outages around Playa del Carmen. Zapata Buenfil said progress is being monitored by the municipality.
According to Zapata Buenfil, the installation of new CFE wiring will last four to six weeks provided there are no heavy rains.
