Mahahual, Q.R. — A catamaran passenger was evacuated from a boat tour after experiencing an asthma attack. Personnel from the Marina of Mexico met the vessel and assisted the passenger after a request for help from the boat’s captain.
The Secretary of the Navy reported meeting the catamaran approximately two nautical miles (four kilometers) south of Mahahual in response to the request for medical assistance.
“This action was carried out after the captain of a catamaran named MAYAN WIND requested the evacuation of a male person who was on board, presenting problems with asthma.
“Due to the above, and in order to safeguard human life at sea, the immediate departure of a Defender vessel from the ENSAR of Chetumal was ordered with specialized personnel on board,” they reported Monday.
The man was evacuated from the catamaran and transferred to the Pescadores de Mahahual dock where he was transferred into a private service ambulance to take him to a health facility to continue his medical care.
