Puerto Aventuras, Q.R. — Seven people were transported to Playa del Carmen hospital Sunday from the scene of a crash. The accident was reported to local authorities when the teen driver of a car crashed into a palm tree after plowing through a concrete structure.
The incident happened around 1:00 a.m. Sunday when the young driver of a car lost control on Bahia de Akumal Street. Before reaching the Cultural Center, the driver swerved out of control and slammed into a palm tree.
Due to the high rate of speed, the vehicle was completely destroyed. A total of seven youths were found inside the car that landed in brush. Paramedics from the fire department and Civil Protection were first responders.
All seven teens were transferred to hospital for treatment of varying injuries. The wreckage was eventually pulled out of the trees and towed from the scene.
Authorities did not provide a cause for the early morning crash.
