Cancun, Rivera Maya, Q.R. — Governor Carlos Joaquín has updated the current coronavirus situation in the state, noting that for the upcoming week, the two traffic light colors of orange for the north and red for the south will remain.
He says the epidemiological traffic light for the southern zone, which includes the municipalities of Felipe Carrillo Puerto, José María Morelos, Bacalar and Othón P. Blanco (Mahaual and Chetumal), will remain red during the week of June 15-21.
For the municipalities of Tulum, Solidaridad (Puerto Aventuras, Paamul, Playa del Carmen), Cozumel, Puerto Morelos, Benito Juárez (Cancun), Lázaro Cárdenas and Isla Mujeres, which make up the northern region, will remain orange for the upcoming week.
He reported that on the contagion curve at the national level, the state is in decline, specifying that Quintana Roo was ranked 4th nationally, but now, has dropped to 18th position regarding coronavirus cases.
On an allowed activity level, hotels, businesses and restaurants will continue to operate in the upcoming week as they have in the previous week, applying sanitary protocols and operating at reduced capacities. An orange light also means beaches remain closed around the state.
