Cancun police locate two illegal cameras on city streetlights

Cancun, Q.R. — Cancun police removed two video cameras found illegally installed on public poles. The finding was made Wednesday in SM 248. Police from the Municipal Secretariat of Citizen Security and Transit (SMSCyT) removed the two video surveillance cameras found installed on streetlights.

The illegal cameras were noticed by patrolling officers. Their placement was verified as illegal after confirming with the Command and Control Center that they were not part of the city’s official monitoring network.

The cameras were made available to the competent authorities to determine their origin. They are part of a growing list of illegally installed video cameras that have been found in major town areas around the state.
