Cancun, Q.R. — Police in Cancun have detained a man for trying to sell a stolen car on Facebook. On Thursday, Hjalmar Eugenio “N” was taken into custody after meeting with a potential buyer who noticed several abnormalities with the vehicle.
After noticing alterations on the car, police were notified who were able to verify it was stolen. According to Cancun Police, the vehcile was reported stolen March 3, 2016.
The would-be buyer found the compact car listed for sale on Facebook. A second meeting with the seller inside a shopping mall resulted in his arrest.
On Wednesday, police in Playa del Carmen arrested two people who were selling narcotics on social media. The man and women were captured in a sting operation where police located over 2,000 bags of drugs being sold on Facebook.
