Cancun, Q.R. — A man who is being charged with the attempted murder of a Cancun police officer is also being held for murder and the robbery of a city bus. On November 1, Lázaro “N” was shot twice by a Cancun police officer during his arrest when he grabbed one of the arresting officers and threatened to kill her.
He was transferred to hospital under police guard for the two gunshot wounds and recently discharged. Police say he remains in their custody, now in Cancun prison.
According to the State Attorney General (FGE), Lázaro “N” is facing murder charges that date back to 2020 for the shooting death of a woman.
“The now detained person identified as Lázaro “N”, is accused of events that occurred on August 2, 2020 in the irregular colony El Porvenir when he shot the victim causing injuries that took her life. The motive for the homicide was an argument when both were intoxicated,” they reported.
He is also facing attempted murder charges for grabbing a female police officer and threatening to kill her during his arrest for the violent robbery of passengers on a city bus.
On November 1, a Cancun police officer shot Lázaro “N” in his left knee and right leg when, during his arrest from a motorcycle on a public street, he grabbed one of the arresting officers around the neck and threatened to kill her.
“The subject was injured when he grabbed a female police officer by the neck and threatened to kill her in an attempt to evade justice after allegedly, together with another male, committing violent robbery against the passengers on a city bus,” the FGE said.
Police were waiting at the hospital when Lázaro “N” was discharged. He was taken into custody on an arrest warrant.
