Cancun dive fisherman dies from equipment failure

Cancun, Q.R. — Emergency 911 responded to the report of a deceased male at a marina of Puerto Juárez near Cancun Sunday.

Police were sent to the scene after Emergency 911 received the report a dead person at a marina of Puerto Juárez. The report to emergency personnel came from a man who said they had just returned from dive fishing when the now deceased died on arrival at the pier.

The deceased was part of a group of five that had left earlier that morning in a boat to dive fish. The deceased has been identified as 28-year-old Ricardo N. The man who reported the incident to 911 said he died from drowning due to problems with his equipment.

Last week, a 25-year-old dive fisherman from Tulum also died from drowning after his equipment failed. His body was located the day after he was reported missing.
