Cancun authorities find over a dozen illegal Cubans hiding in hotel

Cancun, Q.R. — More than a dozen illegal Cuban nationals were removed and arrested from a centrally located Cancun hotel on Wednesday. Police entered the hotel in SM 77 of the city around 3:30 p.m. were they located 15 illegal Cuban nationals.

Police were pointed to the hotel after receiving an anonymous tip. Once inside, 15 people were unable to prove their legal stay in the country. Agents from the State Attorney General’s Office and the National Migration Institute (INM) were called in.

The Prosecutor’s Office was in the process of an investigation regarding illegal migrants in the hotel when they received the anonymous tip. Security seals were placed at the entrance of the hotel.

On Wednesday morning, Isla Mujeres police arrested three Cuban men after an island resident reported seeing their small boat make landfall on the east side of the island.
