Puerto Aventuras, Q.R. — A woman involved in a two-car crash outside Puerto Aventuras was killed early Sunday. The two cars collided at highway speed Sunday morning near the area of Xpu-Ha, just south of Puerto Aventuras.
First responders arrived to find both cars severely damaged and resting against the highway central median. According to preliminary information, one of the cars rear ended the other after it slowed down for a highway work zone.
A female backseat passenger in the hit car was pronounced shortly after arriving at a private hospital. Two others from inside that same car were transferred to Playa del Carmen for medial treatment. They had to be cut free from the car by firemen before being rushed to hospital.
All three were reported to be tourists to the area. One other person from the second car alleged responsible for the hit was also hospitalized.
