Puerto Aventuras, Q.R. — Police have taken a man and woman into custody for physical abuse and rape of a minor boy. The boy was rescued from the abusive home by specialized domestic violence officers where he lived with his mother and step father.

In a statement Sunday, the State Attorney General (FGE) said Perla Evelyn “N” and José Miguel “N” have been arrested “due to their alleged involvement in acts possibly constituting the crimes of domestic violence and rape against a minor victim.”
The pair were arrested and the boy rescued in a coordinated effort between the Specialized Group for Attention to Domestic and Gender Violence and the Investigative Police (Geavig).
“This led to the rescue of the minor and the arrest of the alleged perpetrators in a precise and timely operation, following the events that occurred on June 16 of this year. Following the operation, the victim was rescued and taken into custody.
“The initial investigations by this Social Representation indicate that the minor’s mother, Perla Evelyn “N”, and her partner José Miguel “N”, had him tied to a hammock without providing him with food.

“The stepfather allegedly raped the minor, and when the child asked for food, the mother only gave him water. He was also beaten with a belt and burned with cigarettes on various parts of his body.

“They also sometimes tried to suffocate him with a belt around his neck and placed him in a sack to keep him still. According to the medical examiner’s examination, the child suffered from malnutrition and numerous injuries,” they said in a statement.
