Chetumal, Q.R. — The body of a woman discovered in the Bay of Chetumal Sunday was not the result of murder as speculated by some local media. After an autopsy, authorities report the woman died of asphyxia by submersion, adding that no physical or sexual assault features were found.
On Sunday afternoon around 3:00 p.m., the naked body of an adult female was seen floating in the Bay of Chetumal, which lead some local media to speculate a crime, however, authorities have determined that she did not suffer any type of violence, establishing that it was she herself who took off her clothes to enter the water.
The identity of the woman remains unknown. Authorities say that they will work on identification using her tattoos.
