Body of American tourist found washed up on Cancun beach

Cancun, Q.R. — Authorities were at Playa Chac Mool in the Cancun Hotel Zone Wednesday in response to reports of a body. On the beach at kilometer 9.5, the body of a male was found washed up on the shore.

Authorities were notified of the discovery around 4:00 p.m. Foresnics arrived to remove the remains of the male victim who has since been identified as 20 year old American Alejandro “G”.

Alejandro “G” was reported missing Sunday evning after entering the sea at kilometer 10 of the Cancun Hotel Zone. The man reportadly went in after a woman who was being swept out by the current.

Other beachgoers were able to return the woman to shore, however, the man was not found. Local authorities scoured the sea Sunday night in search of the missing swimmer but did not locate him. A search for his body continued Monday.

His remains were found washed up near Playa Chac Mool Wednesday afternoon approximately half-a-kilometer from where he entered the water Sunday evening.

Alejandro “G” was a tourist to Cancun on vacation from the U.S. at the time of the accident.
