Authorities recover body seen floating behind Cancun marina

Cancun, QR – The medical examiner was called to Hacienda del Mar marina Friday to remove a body. Area workers reported to police seeing a body floating off the coast Friday morning.

Police and Civil Protection were first on scene in response to the report of a body floating near the pier behind the Puerto Juarez marina.

According to initial police reports, the deceased is a man between 35 and 40 years old.

Civil Protection firemen and municipal police officers cordoned off the area to prevent access by onlookers while the corresponding procedures were carried out.

The marina, located in front of Playa del Niño, remained under guard while State Attorney authorities carried out the initial procedures, including the removal of the body.

Local authorities have not speculated on a possible cause of death or if the body is that of a known missing person.

Last month, the body of a man who fell from a Cancun catamaran was found in the same beach area. Currents carried the body of 23-year-old Angel “N” to the same beach behind the marina. His body was found after a failed search and rescue attempt in the Cancun Hotel Zone the night before.
