Authorities locate 25 bricks of cocaine this time on Cancun Hotel Zone beach

Cancun, Q.R. — Another 25 brick shaped packages of cocaine were found, this time on a Cancun beach. The Secretary of the Navy reported that on Saturday, naval personnel, with assistance from the Cancun Tourist Police, located and secured 25 packages of cocaine.

“This action was carried out when personnel from both agencies during ground surveillance tours in the vicinity of the beach located at kilometer 17 of the Cancun Hotel Zone, located a sack that upon inspection was observed in its inside to contain 25 packages wrapped in black plastic,” the Secretaría de Marina reported in a statement.

The sack used was an old sugarcane bag. It was found hung up among sharp rocks in the hotel zone.

The State Attorney of the Republic based in Cancun gave an approximate weight of 25.2 kilograms, which will be integrated into an ongoing investigation. So far in January, 56 bricks of cocaine have been collected from the state’s coastal area.
