Cancun, Q.R. — A man who exchanged gunfire with Cancun police over the weekend remains in jail. Authorities have identified 34-year-old Jorge N as the aggressor with whom they exchanged rounds of gunfire in the Alfredo V. Bonfil region of the city early Sunday.
The State of Mexico native, who is a maintenance worker by trade, was taken into custody from his SUV Sunday morning after leading police on a chase. Police were sent to the Alfredo V. Bonfil region after a citizen report of armed men.
When Cancun police arrived, they were met with gunfire. Jorge N was eventually taken into custody. Upon inspection of his vehicle, police located crack cocaine and a loaded handgun along with rounds of ammo.
