Chetumal, Q.R. — Police have identified the body of a man found in Chetumal early Friday morning as that of a missing worker. The deceased has been identified as Carlos Hernández Gorocica, a worker from the Yook’ ol kaab Planetarium.
He was reported missing by his family Thursday after failing to arrive home from work the day before. He was last seen alive Wednesday.
His body was discovered by a resident in the irregular settlement of Mártires Antorchistas Friday morning.
Police were notified of the discovery around 5:30 a.m. where residents stumbled upon black bags covering a body near the Sabana bridge. Responding officers confirmed the finding, noting the body had been bound at hands and feet.
According to local information, his body was found less than a 10 minute car drive from his place of work.
Police collected evidence from the scene that was used for the official identification. Officials investigating the incident have not mentioned any motive or possible suspects.
