Puerto Aventuras, Q.R. — Civil Protection, police and the fire department continue their investigation into a fire that left a store destroyed. The fire happened Tuesday morning inside an OXXO convenience store in Puerto Aventuras.
The blaze caused extensive damage to much of the store’s interior and exterior.
Employees requested fire assistance for the store located at the northern entrance of Puerto Aventuras. Emergency services were also notified of the fire by passing motorists who reported seeing smoke from the highway.
Municipal police officers arrived at the scene, cordoned off the area, and assisted in controlling traffic while firemen battled flames. There were no injuries reported.
According to initial reports, one of the employees inside the store reported hearing an “explosion” near the outside of the front door. When he looked, he saw flames and smoke.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into the official cause of the fire.
