Chetumal, Q.R. — A weekend fire in Chetumal has destroyed a warehouse grocery store. City firemen were on scene Saturday morning where a fire consumed a branch of the Dunosusa commercial chain in the city of Chetumal.
The incident occurred at the intersection of 16 de Septiembre and Venustiano Carranza Avenue. Neighbors called 9-1-1 after seeing smoke coming from the inside of the grocery store.
Emergency personnel cordoned off and several roads while efforts were underway to control the fire. One fireman was treated at the scene for smoke inhalitation.
The inside of the store was completely destroyed by the early morning blaze. Damage is estimated to be between one and two million pesos.
A cause for the fire is still under investigaiton.
