Armed men detained at police filter attempting to enter city of Chetumal

Chetumal, Q.R. — Two men were arrested from a Chetumal police checkpoint after attempting to enter the city with loaded weapons. The vehicle was inspected at the Chetumal police filter Sunday when the weapons were located.

The MG car, with State of Mexico plates, was pulled over Sunday afternoon at the checkpoint after police noticed the men inside acting nervous as they slowed through the filter.

During their inspection, authorities located two firearms, a shotgun (hidden in the upper part of the trunk) and a small revolver along with live ammunition, also hidden inside the trunk.

Óscar “N” and Carlos “N” were arrested and the vehicle and weapons seized. The seizure was carried out by agents of the State Preventive Police (PEP) when the subjects attempted to enter the city. Police have not said if Óscar “N” and Carlos “N” are also from the State of Mexico.
