Riviera Maya, Q.R. — The Federal Government of Mexico has issued a declaration to use 25 lots between the municipalities of Solidaridad and Tulum for the construction of the train. The 25 lots equal approximately 38 hectares.
According to the declaration published in the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF) on Tuesday, 19 of the properties are in the municipality of Tulum.
This latest declaration for land is in addition to another published in early June for more than 1.3 million square meters of private property between Cancun, Puerto Morelos, Playa del Carmen and Tulum.
Román Guillermo Meyer Falcón, Secretary of Territorial and Urban Agrarian Development (Sedatu), said that the act is based on the Expropriation Law which states that infrastructure projects and the provision of public services are entitled to real estate and land that originally corresponds to the nation.
This latest declaration of land came after a July 11 request by the National Fund for the Promotion of Tourism (Fonatur) to acquire the land necessary for section 5. The newly acquired land will be used to continue with the construction of section 5 of the Maya Train.
