Cancun, Q.R. — AMResorts, which are part of the Apple Leisure Group, says they will open five new hotels in the state of Quintana Roo in 2019 and 2020.
Gonzalo del Peón, president of AMResorts, says the company has plans to open a total of nine new hotels before the end of next year, five of which will be in the state of Quintana Roo. He reported that the new hotels will be under several of their brand names including Secrets, Dreams, Now and Sunscape Resorts & Spas.
“Quintana Roo is a critical destination for AMResorts, the most important destination, with the growth of 22 hotels. Every day, we host more than 15,000 guests in our hotels with the support of our partners and our staff members,” explained del Peón.
He added that the Now Emerald Cancun hotel, with 427 rooms, began operations in July of this year, and that Sunscape Akumal Beach Resort & Spa opened in October with 362 rooms, being the second hotel of the Sunscape brand Resorts & Spas in Quintana Roo. The Now Sapphire Riviera Cancun, which underwent renovations, has reopened this month.
The executive explained that in December, they will open the completely new Dreams Vista Cancun Resort & Spa with 232 rooms and that by January 31, 2020, the Now Natura Riviera Cancun will open with 556 rooms, which will become the fourth hotel with the Now Resorts & Spas brand in Quintana Roo.
Other planned hotel openings include Dreams Acapulco Resort & Spa, Secrets San Martin Resort & Spa and the Dreams Macao Beach Punta Cana with 500 rooms. He noted that AMResorts is also preparing a new hotel under the Secrets Resorts & Spa brand for Playa del Carmen with 671 rooms.
