Riviera Maya, Q.R. — During a weekend Maya Train work tour President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said he believes the entire route will be inaugurated before his presidency is up.
During the weekend visit he stated that Section 7 is 90 percent complete.
“All the work is almost finished so I believe that by August we will have the complete trip ready. Before my six-year term we are going to inaugurate it,” he said during his southern state visit.
The southern sections of 5 south onward have seen considerable delays due to ground complications such as underwater caves as well as delays in material.
AMLO did not provide specifics on the other sections, including the complicated section 5 south that has experienced both structural and legal delays.
López Obrador’s presidential term will be finished by November of this year, at which time he will be replace by the June 2 President-elect Claudia Sheinbaum.
