Cancun, Q.R. — An American man found guilty of killing his American girlfriend while on vacation in Cancun has been sentenced. A Cancun judge has ordered Taylor Keith Duran Allen to spend 50 years in Mexican prison.

The sentence was handed down June 3 after almost five years of legal proceedings. Local authorities did not release the official sentencing information until June 8.
According to the State Attorney General (FGE), Taylor Duran Allen was found guilty for the femicide of his girlfriend Sativa Nichelle Transue.
The pair were on vacation in Cancun in November of 2021 when then-25-year-old Sativa Nichelle Transue was found dead inside their hotel room.
Sativa was originally from Cheney, Washington. She was found dead inside a room room at the All Ritmo Cancun Resort and Waterpark in the area of Puerto Juárez, a few miles outside the city of Cancun.
According to the FGE, other hotel guests reported shouting, disturbances, and arguments between the couple. The FGE said the autopsy confirmed that Sativa Nichelle Transue died from strangulation.
The autopsy also revealed that she had multiple injuries, as well as signs that she tried to defend herself.
