Cuautitlán Izcalli, State of Mexico — An adult woman and minor boy were taken into police custody Thursday for the kidnapping of a man believed dead. The story took a twist earlier in the week when a member of the kidnapped man’s family reported being tipped off that he was not dead.
On May 20, the family of the 31-year-old man reported him as missing and presumed dead from the municipality of Cuautitlán Izcalli, in the State of Mexico. Shorty afterward, the family was issued a death certificate.
However, this week, a woman reported receiving several phone calls that the man was alive but kidnapped. The person making the calls demanded money for his release. In their statement, the SSC reported that in a sting operation, the woman met with the alleged kidnappers to pay the ransom, at which time, police made their arrests.
Agents of the Kidnapping Investigation Unit proceeded to arrest a 17-year-old male and a 25-year-old woman. The 31-year-old kidnapped man was found and taken into protective custody.
