Mahahual, Q.R. — A pickup truck loaded with firearms and tactical gear was discovered by navy personnel over the weekend. In a report, the Secretary of the Navy said personnel assigned to the Seventeenth Naval Zone in Chetumal made the find during a highway patrol.
The abandoned truck was located along a section of the El Cafetal-Mahahual federal highway. Upon inspection they realized it was armored. Inside were weapons, tactical gear and ammunition.
Authorities said they located five long weapons, a grenade, a grenade launcher tube, five ballistic vests and various chargers and ammunition of different calibers during the vehicle inspection.
Police from the municipality of Othón P. Blanco helped insure and tow the truck to the corral.
