A lack of lighting blamed for private car slamming into back of police unit

Chetumal, Q.R. — Two police officers and three civilians were injured in a car accident on the outskirts of Chetumal. The two vehicle accident happened when a white compact car, traveling toward the city, collided with a parked patrol unit.

According to the driver of the car, they were unable to see the parked unit due to a lack of lighting. The dark unit was parked on the side of a dark highway when it was hit from behind.

The driver of the private vehicle also reported a lack of parking lights on the police unit while it was on the highway shoulder, adding to the lack of visibility.

Paramedics were sent in response to the 9-1-1 accident report where medical personnel determined no serous injuries.
