9.2 million airline seats announced for Cancun for upcoming season

Cancun, Q.R. — More than nine million airline seats have been announced for Cancun for the upcoming tourist season. In a recent Board of Directors meeting, the Quintana Roo Tourism Promotion Council shared the development of their marketing strategies.

Darío Flota Ocampo, the Director del Consejo de Promoción Turística de Quintana Roo, lead the August meeting.

“We share the reports of development of the strategic markets, the analysis of the tourists and the trends in terms of connectivity, highlighting that at the end of this first semester, the Mexican Caribbean is 7 percent higher in the number of passenger arrivals compared to the same period of 2019.

“It was also announced that there are already 9.2 million airplane seats scheduled for the period from September 2022 to February 2023, which represents 38 percent more than in the same period three years ago,” Ocampo reported.

He said they have participated in 13 fairs attended by hundreds of travel agencies which resulted in dozens of work meetings. Some of these events included the National Caravan, WTM Latin America, Roadshows USA and with Pleasant Holidays, the Tianguis Turístico de México in Acapulco Guerrero, the Travel & Adventure Show, IMEX Frankfurt and the World Education Congress of MPI, (WEC) among many others.
