Cancun, Q. R. — A 27-year-old driver was rushed to Cancun hospital Monday after splitting his vehicle in two. The high-speed accident happened on a section of Colosio Boulevard in heavy traffic.
According to witness reports, the young male driver was speeding on Luis Donaldo Colosio Boulevard when he lost control of his company vehicle and collided with a metal utility pole.
The combination of speed and impact against the pole caused the vehicle to split in two. Cancun firemen were requested at the scene to remove the trapped driver from what was left of the truck’s cab.
Josías “N” was transferred to a hospital after being freed from the cab of the pickup. A flatbed tow truck eventually arrived to collect the pieces of the truck for transport to the city corral.
Charges are pending against the driver for extensive damage to city property.
