Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Police say a young adult is facing charges of attempted femicide, domestic violence, and corruption of minors. José Ángel “N” will be tried for his probable participation in acts possibly constituting the crimes of attempted femicide, domestic violence and corruption of minors, to the detriment of a 16-year-old girl.

According to police, José Ángel “N” contacted the victim through social media and invited her to his home in the Luis Donaldo Colosio neighborhood where they spent time together on several occasions.
“The events began on April 15th of this year, when the victim stayed at the accused’s residence. After leaving to run errands, José Ángel “N” contacted her by phone and verbally abused her, making jealous demands.
“The accused exhibited controlling and possessive behavior, demanding constant cohabitation, which prompted the teenager to return home,” Quintana Roo police reported.
“On April 16, the encounter escalated into verbal abuse; when the victim attempted to leave, the accused forbade her from doing so, accusing her of infidelity.
“Subsequently, on April 17, both allegedly consumed narcotics; the victim lost consciousness and, intermittently, became aware that she was being sexually assaulted.
“Around midnight, the young woman tried to leave the house but was stopped by José Ángel “N”’s father, who asked her to stay to “fix things.” Upon returning to the room, the accused physically assaulted her, grabbing her by the neck with his arm while making death threats.
“During the attack, the victim lost consciousness again. She reported receiving blows to her face and ribs as well as suffering cuts from fragments of a broken mirror during the struggle, which lead to her being taken to a hospital.”

The minor victim filed a complaint, after which time Investigative Police executed an arrest warrant against José Ángel “N”.
At his hearing, the judge ordered him to stand trial and decreed the precautionary measure of justified preventive detention for the duration of the judicial process.
