Worker electrocuted on second level standing up into CFE power lines

Cancun, Q.R. —  A man was pronounced dead on a Cancun rooftop Tuesday after coming into contact with overhead lines. The worker, who has not been identified, was working on a private home when he is reported to have stood up under a set of low-lying lines.

The accident happened on the second level of a home in SM 43 around 3:00 p.m. The man was working on an upper level extension of the home when he made contact with the high voltage CFE power lines.

The man was apparently crouched down working on a metal structure when he stood up under the hanging power lines and accidently made contact. He was electrocuted.

Firemen were brought in to remove the body from the second level to be take away by the coroner. January 13, 2026.

Police were sent to an address on Ciprés Street and La Luna Avenue after the homeowners called 9-1-1. Firemen were brought in to remove the man’s body from the second level after paramedics confirmed his death.

City inspectors also arrived and closed the homeowner’s construction project.
