Cancun, Q.R. — An American woman died along the main roadway of the Cancun Hotel Zone after being hit by a speeding vehicle. The accident happened at 8:25 p.m. Thursday in front of Playa Tortugas at Kilometer 6.5 of the hotel zone.
Paramedics arrived at the Kukulcán Boulevard scene, but were unable to do anything for her since she was already without vital signs. The young woman was pronounced on scene. Traffic officers also arrived, but were unable to obtain characteristics of the vehicle that hit her since the driver fled. Witnesses were also not able to provide details to due to nighttime darkness.
The deceased woman has been identified as 29-year-old Brytny F. It was not clear if she was a visitor or a resident of the area. Police say they will review traffic surveillance video of the hotel zone to try and locate the vehicle responsible.
