Woman killed by falling tree while traveling Cancun highway to Merida

Cancun, Q.R. — A woman traveling with her son on a highway outside Cancun was found crushed to death by responding paramedics. The woman and her son were located trapped inside their car by other motorists after a large tree fell on their car.

According to reports, 56 year old Lisi N was killed when the tree suddenly toppled and landed across the car. The tree uprooted and fell first on the passengers side, killing her and injuring her 26-year-old son Raid N, who was driving.

The pair were traveling the heavily treed Libre Unión-Holcá section of road on their way to Merida at the time of the accident. Nearby residents and other motorists began to chop the large tree away from the car to free the pair trapped inside.

When paramedics arrived, the woman was found dead in the front passenger’s seat.
