Cancun, Q.R. — A vehicle witnesses reported killing a Cancun man Saturday has been located in a fatal hit and run. The unnamed man was left for dead in the middle of the road near Huayacán Avenue Saturday morning.
Witnesses reports say the man was driving a motorcycle when he was struck by a gas truck. The driver of the truck kept going. Fuel pump attendents from a nearby gas station witnessed the fatal hit and run that left the man dead.
Since the accident happened on a section of the federal 180 highway, National Guard were called to the scene. They cordoned off the area in coordination with personnel from the office of the State Attorney General (FGE).
Using security camera monitoring, authorities located the gas truck at kilometer 14 of the Cancun Hotel Zone. Police did not say if the driver was onboard the vehicle at the time of its location, only that the gas truck has been seized.
