Cancun, Q.R. — A weekend search operation in high crime areas of Cancun has lead to the arrests of 15. The “Maximum Presence” Operation was carried out Saturday night and into Sunday by the Municipal Secretariat of Citizen Security and Transit (SMSCyT) and the Navy.

The operation focused on high crime areas of the city including the suburb of the Alfredo V. Bonfil district. More than 300 people were inspected in various stops around Cancun. Authorities were set up in SMs 72, 75, 76, 95, 96, 102, 103, 110, 242, 259 and 520, as well as in the Avante, El Milagro, Tres Reyes and Sac-be neighborhoods.
According to Policia de Cancun, “320 people were inspected,175 motorcycles and 108 vehicles inspected and 15 people were detained for administrative violations.”

Surveillance was carried out in 12 superblocks and four priority neighborhoods around Cancun. “The actions guaranteed security without neglecting other quadrants of the city,” police said regarding their weekend operation.
