Cancun, Q.R. — Police in Cancun were notified of the discovery of a human body inside a water tank. Area residents found the body at the bottom of a cistern around 10:00 p.m. Tuesday night.
Municipal Police were accompanied by National Guard when responding to the 9-1-1 report. Authorities were able to verify the finding of a human body in SM 65.
The body had been stuffed into a concrete water reservoir inside an abandoned building.
Cancun firemen were asked for assistance in removing the body since the water reservior was more than five meters deep.

Authorities worked into the night inside the old Francisco I. Madero Avenue building until firemen were able to lift the body to the surface.
The area around 9th Street was sectioned off while the Urban Rescue Team from the fire department worked to surface the body.
According to initial data, the body showed visible signs of violence, however, police did not provide any other information. It is not known if the body found was male or female.
