Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — The government of Quintana Roo has issued a notice of illegal land sales in the municipality of Isla Mujeres. The government has listed areas where plots of land are currently being being sold illegally.

The listed lands are being sold fraudulently without permits, making them illegal. Purchasing illegal land means it is not possible for a potential new owner to obtain title. There is also no guarantee that the land being sold will be municipalized with infrastructure such as water, sewage, electricity and roads.
The government says the official list was released by Secretariat of Sustainable Urban Territorial Development (Sedetus) in coordination with the municipality. The lands listed, they say, do not have permits or the necessary authorization to sell, assign rights or rent the properties, and are warning the public about making purchases.
In a statement, Ayuntamiento de Isla Mujeres said “the Government of Quintana Roo, through the Secretariat of Sustainable Urban Territorial Development (SEDETUS) and in coordination with the Municipality of Isla Mujeres, informs that these alleged developments do NOT have official permits or authorizations.

“Avoid fraud. Do not purchase, sell, assign rights or rent these properties as you could put your assets at risk. For more information and advice, you can contact SEDETUS at: atencion@sedetus.gob.mx. Protect your investment and secure your future with reliable information!”
