Cancun, Q.R. — Partners and drivers of Uber in Cancun have denounced crimes of vandalism and individual harassment against the state’s Instituto de Movilidad and Taxistas de Cancún.
During a press conference, Uber partners publicized their complaint, claiming abuse of authorities and exposing the aggression by the Taxistas de Cancún.
“People seek Uber for the security that the brand gives them, so it is the decision of the people. There are more than 150 complaints in the Prosecutor’s Office pending resolution, but authorities ignore them. We have already made allegations of corruption against Uber by the people of the Instituto de Movilidad Jorge Pérez and Bibian Dzul Castillo and of the union leader Erasmo Abelar Chamber, as well as deputy Erika Castillo,” said Cancun Uber driver Águeda Esperilla Soto.
“The aggression of the taxi drivers continues. It takes the Mobility Institute a month to return the (seized) cars, and at the moment, they have as many as 30 cars in the corralón,” he added.
Until now, Uber has paid the fines and damages suffered by their drivers for the alleged abuse of authorities and taxi drivers.
