U.S. authorities aid in Cancun capture of known pedophile

Cancun, Q.R. — Local authorities have reported on the capture of a suspect in Cancun in collaboration with the U.S. Embassy. Joel “N”, a known pedophile, was located and arrested from a home in SM 23 of Cancun after months of investigative work.

“Elements assigned to the Special Prosecutor’s Office in Combating Human Trafficking located and arrest the alleged pedophile in a home in SM 23,” Quintana Roo authorities reported Friday.

At the time of his arrest, he had in his company “an 11-year-old minor, whom, taking advantage of his family closeness, he allegedly raped since she was 7 years old.” Authorities say he “took photographs and videos that he added to his pornographic library on his cell phone, which contained images and recordings of thousands of girls and boys,” they said in a statement.

Joel “N” was located and finally captured by local authorities with help from the U.S. organization National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Mexican officials have not said if Joel “N” and/or the minor child are of American nationality.
