Two workers abducted from Playa del Carmen found in Cancun

Cancun, Q.R. — Two men reported abducted from their workplace in Playa del Carmen have been found in Cancun. The workers were located Monday afternoon after citizen reports of two bodies laying on the side of a Cancun highway.

Municipal Police responding to the reports of two dead bodies found both men on the side of the road near Alfredo V. Bonfil in the city’s north end. Both were found alive and transferred to hospital.

Police interviewing the young men found out they had been held hostage and beaten before being abandoned. Both men are Tren Maya workers from Playa del Carmen.

According to the police report, they were removed from their place of work at gun point Monday morning and driven to a house where they were beaten with boards. Their abductors then put them in a van and transferred them to the Bonfil delegation in Cancun where they were abandoned.

Motorists saw the two bodies and notified authorities. Police are investigating the abduction. They have not ruled out criminal activity such as extortion or forced drug dealing.
