Two rescued from near drownings in Cancun Hotel Zone

Cancun, Q.R. — On Sunday, two people were pulled from the sea at Playa Delfines in the Cancun Hotel Zone. One of those rescued was a woman. She was pulled from the water by lifeguards after attempting to swim against strong currents.

The unidentified woman was pulled from the water by on duty lifeguards around 9:30 a.m. Sunday after, according to lifeguards, she went swimming against their advice since the beach was posted with red flags.

Cries for help alerted lifeguards that she was struggling to get out of the water. She was pulled to safety by the lifeguard and a nearby swimmer.

On Sunday night, a man was taken to hospital after being pulled from the sea at Playa Delfines. The man, Hilario Uscanga N, was given CPR in the sand before being taken to hospital.

He was pulled from the sea after attempting an evening swim when the Cancun Hotel Zone beaches were still marked with red flags.
