Cancun, Q.R. — Two of the four youths killed in a targeted attack Saturday night were known to police. Cristian Iván “T” and Yordi “C”, both 19, were two of the four young men killed in, what police say, was a drug related shooting.
Both 19 year old men had criminal records for motorcycle theft. They were shot and left for dead Saturday night along with two other youths on a dirt road in the city’s Santa Cecilia neighborhood.
The two teens were reported stunting on dirt bikes when two armed individuals arrived and began shooting. A total of four people were killed.
Rigoberto “H” and his brother Anselmo “H”, who were buying food at a nearby kiosk, were hit by bullets meant for Cristian Iván “T” and Yordi “C”. All four youths were pronounced dead at the scene.
In a statement, Cancun authorities reported the deadly targeted attack was related to drug dealing.
“In light of the recent events where four people lost their lives as a result of gunshot wounds, the FGE reports the opening of an investigation in order to clarify the events.
“According to the first lines of investigation, this event is related to crimes against health in its form of drug dealing. Personnel from this autonomous body are carrying out the collection of evidence, as well as the corresponding investigations to find the person or persons responsible for this event that occurred in the Santa Cecilia neighborhood of Cancun.”
