Cancun, Q.R. — Authorities in Cancun continue to search for a gunman responsible for the death of a 14 month old baby. The baby was killed Wednesday night along with a male family friend when gunmen stormed the home and opened fire.
The deadly shooting that left both dead happened in SM 251. According to available information, two armed men entered the home in Paseos del Mar and began shooting. According to witnesses, at least 10 shots were fired. A woman inside the home was injured. The child and the man, Darwin “T”, were killed.
The injured woman Karla “G”, the child’s 22-year-old mother, was taken to hospital by neighbors who came to the Pascua Street home in response to hearing the gunfire. She was treated for a bullet wound to her right leg.
The two shooters reportedly took off on foot toward a nearby plaza. Police scoured the area for those responsible but have not announced arrests. However, they have said they have a description of the likely gunmen.
According to Karla “G”, the now-deceased was a friend who told her he was a hotel supervisor. He was the target in the shooting. He had just arrived at her apartment when moments later, gunmen stormed her home and began shooting.
On Thursday afternoon, the FGE announced the arrest of a man in Cancun but have not said if he was arrested in relation to the Wednesday night shooting.
In a brief note, the State Attorney General (FGE) reported that they have started an investigation into the shooting and, according to their investigation, the man shot was involved in illegal activity.
“The State Attorney General’s Office reports that it initiated an investigation after an armed attack that occurred in the Paseos del Mar neighborhood in SM 251 in Cancun where two people, a male and a minor whose identity is withheld, lost their lives as a result of gunshot wounds.
“Also, an adult woman was injured, who is being treated at a hospital in this city.

“The first investigations indicate that the deceased is a friend of the attacked family and is allegedly involved in illegal activities. Likewise, it is reported that the characteristics of the alleged perpetrators have been identified.
“The Prosecutor’s Office Specialized in Combating Homicide Crime works in coordination with the security authorities of this municipality and maintains a search operation in order to find the whereabouts of those responsible for this unfortunate event. Information in process…”
