Two jailed in undercover operation for luring minors on social media

Cancun, Q.R. — Two men were arrested in Cancun on human trafficking charges for the purpose of sexual exploitation. Their arrests were made after an undercover operation.

The State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) reported the arrests of José “C” and Ángel “D” in two undercover operations carried out by Investigative Police Agents. The operation was the result of an investigation through which they were followed in social networks where they targeted minors with promises of work, money and gifts.

The minors were targeted and lured for the purpose of recruiting them for sexual exploitation. The operation lead to the arrest of José “C” in a Cancun shopping mall and Ángel “D”, who was captured in a Cancun fast food restaurant.

According to their police report, a minor was rescued from meeting Ángel “D” inside the fast food establishment. The Prosecutor’s Office added that both subjects are related to a website from a foreign country, but who have operations in Mexico.
