Two escape after Cancun bank heist

Cancun, Q.R. — On Tuesday morning, two armed subjects entered a Cancun department store bank, making off with a significant amount of cash without being caught.

The robbery occurred at a department store bank inside the Plaza Las Americas shopping centre in Cancun. Emergency 911 responders report receiving the call at 9:30 a.m. of armed subjects inside a bank branch of the mall.

According to information provided, two subjects armed with a firearm threatened the manager of the bank branch, forcing him to hand over the cash. They entered the bank, posing as clients.

Elements of the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) and municipal police officers were on scene to investigate. Police have not reported the amount of cash stolen. Even though a search operation was deployed, no arrests were made.
