Cancun, Q.R. — Cancun traffic police were on scene Monday evening in response to a bad U-turn. According to preliminary reports, the driver of a private car attempted a U-turn at a set of lights along Boulevard Kukulcán in the Cancun Hotel Zone.
In doing so, the car crashed into a city bus. One person from inside the car was transferred to hospital with undisclosed injuries. The second was treated on scene for minor injuries.
According to Cancun Police, the accident happened at Kilometer 3.5. It was around 8:10 p.m. when they received the report of the accident. “Paramedics from the Mexican Red Cross Cancun Delegation and Cancun Transit personnel were at the scene,” they said in a Cancun road report.
The driver of the bus was detained from the scene of the accident. Transit officers continue to work out who was responsible since both drivers claimed having a green light at the time of the crash.
