Cancun, Q.R. — Two people have been detained from the scene of an attempted kidnapping in Cancun. The pair were arrested by Cancun police late Monday after they forcefully removed a man from a car wash on Avenida Guayacán.
The man, along with his the two kidnappers, was forced to drive his own vehicle through city streets. Witnesses to the kidnapping reported the incident to emergency services. Police were able to locate the black SUV on Cancun streets.
It was around 8:00 p.m. when the vehicle was spotted being driven along Colosio Boulevard and stopped. Inside, police located the abducted man and his two kidnappers. They were arrested on site.
According to early information, the kidnapped man was the owner of the car wash from where he was abducted. The two men who kidnapped him arrived on a motorcycle before forcing him to drive away. When police found the SUV, it had one bullet hole on the rear passenger’s side. Authorities have not provided a motive for the abduction.
